the pursuit of favorites: wash park tavern and reiver's

march 8, 2011
we met with one of my friends and her boyfriend for dinner one night at the tavern in wash park. we shared some queso (better than previously tried quesos!) and handsome and i split a pizza. the food wasnt exceptional or really all that memorable in either a good or bad way. (we were also stuffed from eating cupcakes right before, probably not my most brilliant idea). my friend said they have a really yummy brunch and an enjoyable patio that we were unfortunately unable to enjoy because it was reserved for a private party. despite the averageness of the place, the company was enjoyable and we had a good time. beers were also buy one get one free during happy hour which ended up equaling about $2 per beer. pretty good deal i think.

after our friends left, we stayed for a bit longer to enjoy each others company and played a bit of new orleans themed trivia (it was fat tuesday). neither of us know anything about new orleans so we decided to head to another bar that was across the street called reiver's. we knew that we would really like this place right when we walked in. and they were playing trivia too! we liked these questions more than the ones at tavern and really liked the atmosphere of the bar. it was very laid back and filled with groups of people having trivia fun and enjoying some delicious food with their drinks.

we decided to join the trivia game because we knew the first questioned ask. however, this was not reflective of our overall performance. basically, we were very bad at it. no talent at all! we were so bad that we were announced as being in last place. but that she was glad we decided to play even though we were starting late. handsome decided it would be a good idea to not anticipate "trick" questions because they are not tricks at all (we would have done better had he taken this approach). regardless, it was fun and we have made it a goal to try and win one day!

along with being champions one day, we would also like to come to reiver's for happy hour sometime. the appetizer prices during happy hour are pretty good and to top it off, the buffalo wings people were eating while we were there smelled super amazing! my mouth was watering as i watched others eat them ha!

love.
